The process
1. Initial hand-washing
Before the bath, each record is gently hand-cleaned with a specialized solution and microfiber cloth. This lifts surface dust and dirt and cleans the center label, which stays out of the bath.
2. Ultrasonic cleaning
Our modified ultrasonic bath rotates your record at an optimal 1RPM while high-frequency vibrations shake loose the grime hiding deep in the grooves.
3. Hands-free vacuum drying
The Record Doctor vacuum removes leftover moisture and loosened debris from the grooves, completely hands-free.
4. Anti-static sleeving
Your record goes into a brand-new, acid-free, anti-static HDPE (high-density polyethylene) sleeve to keep it protected after cleaning.
5. Jacket dusting
Your cover deserves care too, so it gets a careful dusting to look as good as your record sounds.
6. Repackaged, ready to last
Your sleeved record, jacket, and original inner sleeve are bundled in a new archival-grade polypropylene outer cover.
The benefits
Longer life
- For your records: Every play drives dust and debris deeper into the grooves, causing permanent wear that often results in ticks and pops. A deep clean followed by preservation in anti-static sleeves keeps your records spinning at their best for years to come.
- For your stylus: A dirty record is hard on your stylus. Clean records protect it, which means fewer replacement parts and more money saved over time.
Better sound
- Hear more of the music: Every bit of grime in the groove adds noise. A deep clean won’t remove scratches or scuffs, but it’ll clear away the dirt that does mask detail, giving you quieter surface noise and clearer playback.
- Even brand-new records need it: Modern pressings can arrive with mold release residue and factory dust. Clean them before their first spin for the best possible audio.
